PEN PALS by Michael Griffo is the second of our OCTOBER special weekend shows. Direct from its celebrated run off-Broadway, Pen Pals is the extraordinary story of two best friends who have never met. The minimalist two-woman show, revolving around letter readings, is a funny, moving, character-driven play that spans decades, touching on adolescence, marriage, career milestones, children, and significant tragedies.

Bernie and Mags live in two different countries, and have been pen pals for over fifty years. Since they were teenagers, they’ve shared every aspect of their lives with each other. They’ve told each other things they wouldn’t dare tell another soul. Through their letters, they are closer to each other than anyone else in the world.

The play has drawn consistent praise for its heart and poignant reflections on aging and female connection. Fans of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters will find a familiar warmth here.
