We are SO EXCITED to announce our 80th SEASON! Something for everyone! OUR TOWN (we're specifically highlighting America's small towns, including New Canaan, during the 250th celebration) RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER (our multi-generational Holiday musical) ALMOST, MAINE (a heartwarming, magical series of interconnected love stories) THE BAD SEED (the classic 1954 psychological thriller centered around a troubled girl) KIMBERLY AKIMBO (hilarious and heartrending play that inspired the Tony Award winning musical)
OUR TOWN is Thornton Wilder’s 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Our Town is a timeless exploration of the human experience. Set in the fictionalized small town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, between 1901 and 1913, it follows the daily routines, loves, and tragedies of the Gibbs and Webb families. The play is famously performed with limited stage scenery and almost no props, using pantomime to encourage audiences to focus on the universal themes rather than design. We've selected Our Town for this season to highlight the 250th celebration by focusing on small town America, and specifically "Our Town" of New Canaan.
RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER (our multi-generational Holiday musical). A faithful, family-friendly musical adaptation of the iconic 1964 stop-motion television special, bringing the magic of Christmastown to the stage.
Shunned by others for his glowing red nose, Rudolph sets off to find a place where he truly belongs. Along his journey, he befriends fellow misfits and eventually realizes his differences are exactly what he needs to save Christmas. The musical highlights important messages about acceptance, friendship, and embracing what makes you special. The show features beloved characters like Hermey the Elf, Yukon Cornelius, and the Abominable Snow Monster, with classic holiday songs such as "A Holly Jolly Christmas".

ALMOST, MAINE (a heartwarming, magical play of universal appeal by John Cariani that tells a series of interconnected love stories set in the fictional, remote town of Almost, Maine, on a cold winter night. The play explores love, loss, and human connection through magical realism, with scenes where characters experience love in strange and literal ways, like having their hearts physically bruised or their love literally fall from the sky.
THE BAD SEED (the classic and chilling 1954 psychological thriller centered around a troubled girl) adapted by Maxwell Anderson from William March's novel. It centers on Christine Penmark and her seemingly perfect, sweet 8-year-old daughter Rhoda. When a classmate mysteriously drowns, Christine slowly uncovers her daughter's dark capacity for evil, forcing her to question the roots of morality.
KIMBERLY AKIMBO by David Lindsay-Abaire is a hilarious and heart-rending play that inspired the Tony Award winning musical.
Kimberly is a bright, optimistic New Jersey teenager whose body physically looks like a 72-year-old. Along with typical teenage milestones, she has to maneuver her highly dysfunctional family, a possible felony charge orchestrated by her scam-artist aunt, and her time running out. Despite these heavy themes, the show is overwhelmingly uplifting, focusing on making the most of life and appreciating the time we are given.

ROUNDING THIRD by Richard Dresser is the first of our OCTOBER special weekend shows...this being a concert reading. Rounding Third describes the humorous journey of two Little League coaches through an entire season, from their first tentative meeting to the climactic championship game. Don is the tough, blue-collar, win-at-all-costs veteran coach whose son is the star pitcher. Michael is a newcomer both to the town and to baseball. He's a corporate executive who agrees to be Don's assistant because he wants a special activity with his son, who's never played baseball before. Butting heads doesn't just happen on the field!
PEN PALS by Michael Griffo is the second of our OCTOBER special weekend shows. Direct from its celebrated run off-Broadway, Pen Pals is the extraordinary story of two best friends who have never met. Inspired by the playwright's mother, the minimalist two-woman show is a funny, moving, character-driven play that spans decades, touching on adolescence, marriage, career milestones, children, and significant tragedies.
Bernie and Mags live in two different countries, and have been pen pals for over fifty years. Since they were teenagers, they’ve shared every aspect of their lives with each other. The trivial bits, the most intimate details, all the happiness, all the heartache. They’ve told each other things they wouldn’t dare tell another soul. Even though Bernie lives in New Jersey and Mags is from England, the women are closer to each other than anyone else in the world.
Come witness the journey of their lifetime. In their own words. The play has drawn consistent praise for its heart and poignant reflections on aging and female connection. Fans of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters will find a familiar warmth here.
